Genesis
Have you ever heard a storyteller start by saying, “Let’s start at the beginning”? In order to get a handle and perspective for an account you really need to go back to the beginning. When you buy a used car the wise consumer wants to know a bit about its previous history. You can look up if the car has been in any previous accidents or had any major repairs and by doing so you can determine whether or not it is a lemon. When you buy a house you are required to look back into the history of the house to make sure any additions to it are to code and done in compliance to the law. When you marry someone you want to know their history. You want to know about their parents, their family history. When you apply for a job what does your potential employer ask for? They ask for your resume which is an employment history. You can tell a lot about something from its beginnings. You can tell a lot about someone from their beginnings. Genesis is God’s first word on Himself; His nature and His way of doing things. If you want to know God you should start at the beginning, in Genesis.

The book of Genesis is the first book of the Bible and Where It All Began. Genesis is the rudimentary and foundational book of the Bible. Henry Morris in his book The Genesis Record makes the following statement on the first book of the Bible:
“The Book of Genesis is probably the most important book ever written. The Bible as a whole would surely be considered (even by those who don’t believe in its inspiration) as the book that has exerted the greatest influence on history of any book ever produced. The Bible, however, is actually a compilation of many books, and the Book of Genesis is the foundation of all of them. . . . The Book of Genesis thus is in reality the foundation of all true history, as well as of true science and true philosophy. It is above all else the foundation of God’s revelation, as given in the Bible. No other book of the Bible is quoted as copiously or referred to so frequently, in other books of the Bible, as is Genesis.”
To a great extent Genesis is one of the main foundation stones to God’s 66 book Biblical revelation. If you want to fully and correctly understand the message of God in His word, you have to at some point understand the book of Genesis. Truly, the person who wants the complete and correct understanding of God’s revelation has to go to the book of Genesis is Where It All Began.
