A perfect life, isn’t that what we all want? We want a meaningful, full, rewarding, and blessed life. We want to be able to look at our lives at the end of the line and be able to say, “Ah, perfect!” Is that possible? Aren’t we all imperfect? Yes, in one sense we are all imperfect. But in another sense, according to the scriptures, we can be perfect. We can live a perfect life! What do you think about that? Curious? Skeptical? Doubtful? Hopeful?

In Paul’s inspired letter to the Colossians he mentions perfection of the saints three times writing:

• Colossians 1:28 - ²⁸ Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.
• Colossians 3:14 - ¹⁴ But above all these things put on love, which is the bond ofperfection.
• Colossians 4:12 - ¹² Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

He is inspired to write of the possibility to be, “. . . perfect in Christ Jesus . . . the bond of perfection . . . [and] that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.” Those are pretty incredible possibilities.

Now you may already be thinking, is that really possible? Can a person be “perfect” in any way? I thought we’re all imperfect. We may have a lot of preconceived notions about what “perfect” means and how it relates to us. But what we need to do is inductively study God’s word and objectively come to conclusions based on what God says in His word. That is what we will do in our study of Colossians.
