Peter is known for the greatest blunders and failures as well as for some of the greatest comebacks and victories in Jesus. Remember, it was Peter who proclaimed his loyalty to Jesus only to deny Him three times when Jesus needed him most (Matthew 26:30-35, 69-75). But Peter is also the only disciple to be personally restored by Jesus (John 21:15-19).
Peter wasn’t perfect even after Pentecost as Paul’s rebuke attests (Galatians 2:14). But what Peter learned throughout his life and what he so ably shares in his first epistle is that, hope is alive when you live with Jesus. Peter had learned from experience that even when you fail, when you blow it really bad, there is still always hope in Jesus. Peter rejoiced in this hope and this hope kept him going, even when he failed. That is why he opens his epistle by saying:
|
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead," - 1 Peter 1:3
|
As we study this great epistle, may God empower us with the same living hope he put in Peter’s heart and may we live in the living hope of Christ.
Sincerely your servant always in Christ,

Pastor Claude
